Introduction to 丢, 弄丢 and 丢掉

The Chinese character word 丢 【diū= lose】 is used for something that gets lost non-intentionally. It can also be used as metaphor.

弄丢 【nòngdiū= lose】 consists of 弄 【nòng=to do】 as the action and 丢 【diū=lose】 as the consequence/result. 弄丢 【nòngdiū】 is used for something/someone that gets lost non-intentionally, but the “guilty” person takes the responsibility as the consequence. It is also often used with 把 【bǎ】.
